Steven Wangerin

  Mr. Wangerin graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with majors in finance and economics in 1986.  Upon graduation from college, he accepted a management candidate position with First Citizens Bank in January of 1987.

 From 1987 to August of 2000, Mr. Wangerin worked for First Citizens Bank in various capacities as outlined below:

 In each of the responsibilities, Mr. Wangerin was responsible for management, financial analysis, profitability, sales and leadership of the organization assigned to him.  In his final position, he was responsible for a branch network with $480 million in branch footings with 15 direct reports and 130 employees.  This position reported to one of three Executive Vice Presidents within First Citizens Bank.  The area was noted for its efficiency and profitability by achieving the highest return on asset ratio in the bank in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

 Mr. Wangerin is also a 2000 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking from Louisiana State University.  This degree is the equivalent of a masters in the field of banking.  Also, he is a 1992 graduate of the N.C. School of Banking Mid-Management Program.

Mr. Wangerin is currently the Chief Executive Officer for the W.T. Humphrey Group in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  W.T. Humphrey, Inc. is the parent corporation of Pro Construction, Inc., HCI, Inc., Humphrey Mechanical, Inc., Humphrey Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., Coastal Plains Dragway & Raceway, Inc., Jacksonville Metal Manufacturing, Inc., and Humphrey So-Par Utilities, Inc..

Mr. Wangerin is very active in the local community represented by the following roles: Board Member/Vice Chairman of the Jacksonville/Onslow Chamber of Commerce, Past President for the Jacksonville Rotary Club, Board Member/Treasurer of the Onslow Caring Communities Foundation (a chapter of  the N.C. Communities Foundation), Board Member of Coastal Carolina Community College Foundation, Member of the Jacksonville/Onslow Military Affairs Committee, a former 6 year board member of the Onslow County United Way and a former board member of Onslow County Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Wangerin resides in Jacksonville with his wife, Cathy, and two daughters, Stephanie and Amy.
